Here are two exercises I have built up to making a bit harder to challenge myself in my @keepitcleaner workouts 🙌🏻❤️ I add 2 x KB and hold them up on my step ups and hold the weight above my head when I do lunges. Your workout is all about YOU. Take what you need from it. Sometimes I feel like doing something gentle and slower but other times I really want to do something high intensity and push my fitness levels. Moving our bodies is such an awesome thing; make sure you try and do something this weekend for you ❤️
Once the temperature drops, staying committed to your workout routine can feel like a whole new challenge. Whether it’s the cold mornings, rainy nights or just a desire to eat your favourite comfort foods 24/7, finding tips and solutions for staying motivated while you ride out the Winter months is a priority for many of us.
So, if you’re looking for tips to keep your workout routine consistent during Winter, you’ll want to keep reading. We spoke to Laura Henshaw (one half of the Keep It Cleaner program) and asked her to share her best tips staying motivated to workout during Winter.
What Are Your Top Five Tips for Staying Motivated to Workout During Winter?
Schedule in your workouts in your diary like you would a meeting and tick them off as you go during the week. You wouldn’t cancel on someone else in a meeting, so don’t cancel on yourself.
Plan your workouts: The less you have to think about the better and that way you will get the most out of each session. I love knowing that when I start my session I have it all planned out through our Keep It Cleaner App.
Lay your activewear out the night before if you have to train early. That way when you get up it is all ready to go.
Write out all the positive feelings you get post session so you can use it to help motivate you pre-session when you need it. It can be so much harder in Winter when it’s cold and dark but a workout will warm you up and energise you for the day.
Know that you will not always be motivated for every workout but that’s OK. Don’t wait for the motivation, it will come once you start training – just do it!
Do You Have Any Tactics or Strategies for Getting Out Of Bed In the Morning When It’s Freezing?
Booking in with a friend is a great way to stay motivated. It keeps you accountable as you won’t want to let them down and it will also make your sessions more enjoyable.
Do You Change Up Your Workout Routine During Winter to Make It More Achievable?
I find in Winter I prefer to train inside and so I will do my Keep It Cleaner workouts in my living room. I love that I don’t have to leave the house to do it and I find it’s harder to make excuses when all I have to do to start my session is walk from my bedroom to the next room.
